“Lastly, I would like to direct some advice to the Muslims at large on this topic. Understand that the topic of celebration or commemoration is a fiqh issue of difference of opinion based upon ijtihad and there is no explicit and unequivocal text on the matter for or against it. So, the one who does not celebrate or commemorate the mawlid is not to use a “proof” for not making the mawlid and that the one doing so is somehow showing dislike towards the Sunnah. And for the one who commemorates or celebrates the mawlid, he is not to declare or make as a principle that the one who does not do so somehow has a lack of love for Al-Mustafa, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. Both groups of these people are Muslims and we are in need of reducing such disputes from becoming wider. And Allah is the Most Exalted and knows best.”
